Ford GT: The Legend Comes to Life Ford GT: The Legend Comes to Life
by Larry Edsall
The Ford GT is the modern version of the incredible GT40, a car
created by Ford in the 1960s to beat the Ferraris at Le Mans - which
they did! The success of the original GT40, coupled with its great
looks, made it one of the most popular cars in automotive racing
history. Ford has revived the spirit of the original race car with perhaps
its most exciting new car in 30 years - the Ford GT. The new car has
lines taken straight off the original GT40 and power supplied by a
500-hp supercharged 5.4-Liter V-8. This book includes an in-depth
analysis of how the car came to be, complete with original interviews
with Ford execs and engineers as well as drawings of concept cars.
Also included is a short chapter summing up the origins and race
history of the GT40. Also a section discussing the concepts for GT40
revivals. Many of these cars have not been revealed in previous
publications.

Ford GT40 and GT Ultimate Portfolio 1964-2006
Built to take on Ferrari at Le Mans, the GT40 began its race
career in 1964 and continued into the 70s. It was 1966 when
Henry Ford's dream was realized when three GT40s finished
1-2-3 at Le Mans. Although the GT40 continued to be raced
after 1967 it was with private teams rather than from Ford itself,
where it became a legend in its own lifetime. Recently Ford
has produced a limited volume modern-day replica - forty
years young and still a magnet for enthusiasts whenever seen
at a motoring event. This book is the story of the GT40 and
contains a collection of road tests, model introduction articles
and driving impressions. Included are full pecifications and
history.

The Ford that Beat Ferrari: A Racing History of the GT40
Henry Ford was angry. He had just been spurned by
Enzo Ferrari who had finally told him in no uncertain terms
he wouldn't sell. Henry wanted to get even and to hit hard, fast
and where it would hurt the most: at Le Mans 24-hours, the
most prestigious race in the world. But first he needed a car.
The Shelby Cobras had earlier conquered in the GT class,
but overall victory was not theirs. Instead Mr. Ford chose a
British prototype, the Lola GT, from which he developed the
Ford GT-40. This book tells the story of the GT40 and is a
must for any serious Ford racing enthusiast.

the Ford GT legend. Drivers have been interviewed. Never
before seen historical and new photographic records have
been included. Some of the old myths and legends have
been revisited. The enemies of the Ford GT on the racing
track have been included. The Ford GT replica industry gets
its overdue day in the limelight. The stories of various original
Ford GT survivors have been included, but most important of
all, as many Ford GT drivers that could be found have been
given their place on the Roll of Honor.
