Camaro Camaro
by Steve Statham
Tire-smoking musclecars take center stage in Camaro, a complete
history of the evolution of one of the most popualr pony cars to roll
out of Detroit. The beat begins in the mid-1960s, with Chevrolet
workimg on the Panther prototype, an answer to the faithful's call for
preformance cars. The Panther mane was dropped in favor of
Camaro, and GM debuted the new musclecar in 1967. Camaro goes
on to chronicle the wild cars of the muslecar era, including some of
the most powerful factory-built machine ever created- SS-396s,
Z28s, COPOs, and more. The book moves onto the 1970s, when
the Camaro sold record numbers as one of the few performace cars
in a fuel-consious economy. Next are the 1980s cars including the
Camaro's increasingly high-performance variants. Into the 1990s,
the new Z28 SS brought back the days of snarling V-8s and
sub-14-second ETs. Camaro vividly displays the hottert Camaros of
all time. This book has a thorough history and stunning photographs
are complemented by performance figures, comparision charts, and
option and engine data.
